[Nargis Relief Story Part IV – A Trip to Laputta Town]
Soon after returning from Myaungmya, my sister Ma Kyin Kyin and volunteers prepared for another trip to one of the hardest hit areas in the delta. They travelled to Laputta town in 18th May 2008. Following are notes taken by Ma Kyin Kyin about their trip to Laputta.
Upon hearing from you of additional funds, I rang Ma Myo Myo to buy more cloths and utensils. We also ordered 10,000 packs of bread. We asked our contacts in Myaungmya to make bread for us. This time we were going to Laputta. Our plan was to bring cloths and utensils from Yangon and on the way we picked up bread from Myaungmya.
In addition to cloths we purchased, we also collected lots of brand new and second-hand pants and shirts from generous donors. At home the whole family contributed in sorting and packing of cloths. Your friend Ko Than Aung sent 30-dozen bottles of drinking water. Neighbours came and donate us various items until to the last minute before our convoy left. Our house became a warehouse with full of goods. We got two truckloads of goods for Laputta. We rented another mini-bus for volunteers and for more goods. All vehicles were loaded fully.
On the day we travelled, two trucks with male volunteers left early about 10 O’clock in the morning. Our mini-bus with mostly women followed about 3 O’clock in the afternoon. So we left for Laputta with 40-person strong volunteers.
We had our dinner at Nyaungdone. Again, we met actor Kyaw Thu and his returning convoy there. It was already 9 PM when we reached Myaungmya. That night we went to bed around 1 O’clock in the morning. We woke up early about 3 AM to receive bread we had ordered. In Myaungmya, we rented one more truck to carry 10,000 packs of bread. We finally reached Laputta at 9:30 AM.
We split into two groups and set off to visit different camps. Heavy rain hampered handing out donations in some small and overly crowded camps. We had to shift goods and bags around the places to avoid getting things soaked in the rain. We were very tired and hungry when we took our lunch break at 1:30 PM. We resumed our afternoon mission at 2 PM. Rain was pounding heavier in the afternoon. At some camps we handed our donations to Buddhist monks in-charge because it was impossible for victims to assemble under heavy rain to receive aid handouts. By the way, many camps were in fact Buddhist temples and monasteries where there were large compound with bigger buildings for refugees to take temporary shelter.
Living conditions were so miserable that it was beyond any of us could imagine. People lived at those buildings under leaking roofs and fallen walls. Dampen ground was their common bed. Once the ground was flooded after heavy rain, people stacked up brick tubes under their feet just to avoid water. Children cried frighteningly in the cold of rain. We thought it was bad in Myaungmya camps. Laputta was extraordinary. In entire town, I did not see a house that was left undamaged. People walked around directionless. They appeared to be searching someone but looked for nothing. They were sick and traumatized. Some did not even respond when they were called by name.
It was already 4:30 in the afternoon when we returned to our group’s meeting point. Time ran fast. We donated remaining goods to “Four-storey-temple” which was sheltering 8,000 refugees. We departed Laputta at 5:30 PM and reached Myaungmya at 9:30 PM. We had our dinner there. We left for Yangon at 10:30 PM and reached home at 4:30 in the morning.

A Volunteer’s Diary
[Nargis Relief Story Part I – Response to the Disaster]
It is part of our culture for the young ones to visit elders, teachers and seniors, and pay them respect during Burmese New Year occasion and in religiously auspicious days. Elders, in turn, offer blessing to their patrons. They would sermon “may disasters and plagues upon thee be averted”. Carefree youngsters we, took no seriously of the words “disasters and plagues”, were nonetheless touched by the message of compassion. It is a lovely tradition indeed.
Our terrible experience of a disaster came before us when Cyclone Nargis struck Irrawaddy delta in 2nd May 2008. How can we human resist power of mother nature? Thanks to technology and inventions. Though we cannot prevent, in nowadays we are able to predict more accurately of coming storms, earthquakes and volcano eruptions. Yet ultimate responsibility still lines with human attentiveness to make use of technology and save life of fellow human beings. Sadly, in the case of Cyclone Nargis, disastrous situation became an unprecedented tragedy when irresponsible authorities not only failed to warn population in the delta region ahead of the coming storm but ridiculously denied aftermath rescue offers from global community. The world is at shock to witness the scale of destruction caused by Nargis and yet cool response by the Burmese junta.
As the world rushed to assemble relief missions to help cyclone victims, we the Sanay Dhamma Friends too swiftly worked to raise emergency funds (to top up existing monthly donated funds) and convened an urgent meeting in 10th May 2008 to discuss what best we shall donate for the victims and how quick our donation can reach out to affected region. By the time of our first Nargis meeting, we have raised over twelve thousand Singapore Dollars inclusive of Sanay Dhamma Friends’ regular contributions for March, April and May 2008.

We had good news in the following week after our meeting. Ma Lwin Lwin Moe, one of our regular contributors in Singapore was travelling to Yangon and delta region in the weekend. I was also told that an aid convoy organized by her sister Ma Myo Myo is leaving tomorrow. I rang Ko Kyi Lin who was coordinating relief efforts in Myaungmya town where thousands of victims said to have sought refuge. Ko Kyi Lin said, “In fact, Myaungmya was not severely affected. Most victims here are from nearby town Bogalay. We have over 40,000 cyclone victims in about 30 camps here. We’ve got rice for them in government rations. But we need cloths… especially cloths for men who are the lone survivors. They have no cloths. We also need utensils, and sacs of iodized salt”. I promptly contacted Yangon to help us buy men cloths. By the end of the day, Ma Myo Myo bought cloths and utensils worth about 1 million Kyats on behalf of us and promised to bring with her convoy which is preparing to leave early next morning. I was also informed that my sister Ma Kyin Kyin, who usually managed and coordinated our aid works in Yangon would be joining the trip. Added bonus for us was generosity of retailers who topped-up our purchase with their own donations. Sahdu… Sahdu…Sahdu.

Following from here are notes taken by my sister Ma Kyin Kyin during their trip to Myaungmya.
I learnt from Ma Myo Myo about their journey to Myaungmya tomorrow and Sanay Dhamma Friends joining the aid mission. I therefore organized to collect second-hand cloths from our neighbours and picked up about 7 bags by end of the day. We left for Myaungmya in 12th May 2008 morning 4 o’clock and reached there about late morning 11:30. Well, I don’t have to say roads are bumpy. Ma Myo Myo and her volunteers brought loads of cloths for all ages. Upon arrival, we first discussed with town residents over the urgent needs and aid receiving status etc so that we could list and prioritize camps to visit. We first visited camp number 24 which was set in a compound with two large warehouse buildings. The camp hosted over 4,500 victims whom mostly are transferees from other crowded camps. When we arrived, we saw a truckload of victims arrived as well. We were told that the camp was less frequented by donors due to its outskirts location. We also witnessed a group of volunteers handing food rations. We too handed out food and other items that we have brought. They did not have utensils so it was just nice that we brought plates, cups, and woks. Here let me brief you how things are distributed. First they asked everyone to get out of the building and let them in again one by one. Donors waited at building’s main door and passed food, cloths and other items to victims. This way we ensured that everyone got their ration and avoided chaos and being overwhelmed. I noticed there were sizeable number of women and children in the camp. We handed out some cash to those sick and elderly victims. Later we visited four more camps until 5:30 in the late afternoon. We handed over remaining goods to town elders and returned. We reached back Yangon pass midnight.
We saw other private volunteer groups camped in Myaungmya and providing aid and medical assistance. Famous actor Kyaw Thu’s group was among we met. I was saddened to see many victims suffered severe skin burns. They had hugged on to trees throughout the storm and barely survived but yet to receive proper medical treatment. One survivor from Laputta told me that 23 out of 26 workers in their rice mill perished in the storm, and the factory building was gone just leaving a boiler tank.
It appeared that Sanay Dhamma Friends’ first aid mission to Myaungmya was completed without much hindrance. Ma Myo Myo recounted one encounter. “A half-dressed soldier came up onboard once our convoy stopped at a camp. We could easily smell overwhelming alcohol stink from him. I asked him who he was, his duty-about and told him to get out off the truck. He then questioned me who I was. Someone standing next to me answered him that I was a donor. Anguish and discontent, the soldier got off the car and walked back to his officer. All of us were relieved that they left us undisturbed the rest of our journey”. Sahdu…Sahdu…Sahdu.

Nargis Story Part 5 (Phyar Pone Trip)
နာဂစ္ ဒုကၡသည္မ်ားအတြက္ အစားအစာ ႏွင့္ အျခားပစၥည္းမ်ား လွဴဒါန္းရန္ ဖ်ာပံု သို႔ သြားေရာက္ျခင္း (၂၇-၀၅-၀၈)
အရင္ နင္ပို႔ထားတဲ့ ၁၅ သိန္း + သိန္း ၇၀ + ကိုႏြယ္၀င္း အမိ်ဳးသမီးဆီက ၁၅ သိန္းက ေျမာင္းျမ နဲ႔ လပြတၱာကို သြားလွဴလိုက္တာ အကုန္ ကုန္သြားၿပီ။ ဖ်ာပံုအတြက္က ေနာက္ထပ္ပို႔လိုက္တဲ့ ၁၈ သိန္း ၄ ေသာင္း ၄ ေထာင္ပဲ က်န္ေတာ့တယ္။

ဒါနဲ႔ ငါလဲ ငါးေျခာက္ေခါင္းေႁခြဘို႔ အနီးအနားကလူေတြကို လိုက္ေမးေတာ့ တစ္ဦးႏွစ္ဦးပဲ စိတ္ပါလက္ ပါရိွတယ္။ ေတာ္ေတာ္မ်ားမ်ားက စိတ္မ၀င္စားၾကဘူး။ ခဏေနေတာ့ ေဒၚခင္ေအးမူ ေပါက္ခ်လာၿပီး ငါ့ကို ေျပာတယ္။ “ဟဲ့ - အက်င္၊ ဟိုမွာ ဘုန္းႀကီးက ေမွ်ာ္လို႔၊ ရပ္ကြက္ထဲက လူေတြကို ငါးေျခာက္ ေၾကာ္ဘို႔ ေျပာထားတယ္။ ဒီ့ေလာက္ အမ်ားႀကီး ဘယ့္ႏွယ္ တစ္ေယာက္ ႏွစ္ေယာက္ထဲနဲ႔ ၿပီးႏိုင္ပါ့မလဲ၊ ငါ့ေပးလိုက္” ဆိုၿပီး ငါးေျခာက္ အခ်ိန္ ၆၀ ကို သူ႔ဟာသူ တကၠစီငွားၿပီး သယ္သြားတယ္။ ဘုန္းႀကီးေက်ာင္းမွာ ေႁခြၾကတာေပါ့။ ဘုန္းႀကီးက လူစုေပး။ ငါးေျခာက္ေတြလဲ ေခါင္းေတြေႁခြၿပီးေရာ ဘုန္းႀကီးက လွမ္း ဖံုးဆက္တယ္။ တို႔လည္း ဆိုကၠားငွားၿပီး သြားသယ္ရတာေပါ့။
ၾကက္သြန္ကလည္း အျဖဴ၊ အနီ စုစုေပါင္း အခိ်န္ ၃၀ ေလာက္ ခြါရ လီွးရတာ။ မူမူတို႔ (က်ြန္ေတာ့္ ညီမ အငယ္) ဌာန က ဆရာမ သံုးေယာက္ ကူၿပီး ခြါၾက လီွးၾကေပါ့ဟယ္။ ေၾကာ္တာက ၀င္းေဇာ္ဦး ရယ္၊ ဒို႔ ရပ္ကြက္ က ေပါင္ခ်ိန္ ရယ္၊ ေအာက္ထပ္က အစ္မႀကီး ႏွစ္ေယာက္ရယ္ ေၾကာ္ၾကတယ္။ ေန႔ခင္း ၁ နာရီက စ ေၾကာ္ၾကတာ။ ည နာရီျပန္ တစ္ခ်က္တီးမွ ၿပီးတယ္။ ဒါ ေၾကာ္ရံုသက္သက္ပဲ ရိွေသးတယ္။

ဒါနဲ႔ ငါလဲ ငါးေျခာက္ေခါင္းေႁခြဘို႔ အနီးအနားကလူေတြကို လိုက္ေမးေတာ့ တစ္ဦးႏွစ္ဦးပဲ စိတ္ပါလက္ ပါရိွတယ္။ ေတာ္ေတာ္မ်ားမ်ားက စိတ္မ၀င္စားၾကဘူး။ ခဏေနေတာ့ ေဒၚခင္ေအးမူ ေပါက္ခ်လာၿပီး ငါ့ကို ေျပာတယ္။ “ဟဲ့ - အက်င္၊ ဟိုမွာ ဘုန္းႀကီးက ေမွ်ာ္လို႔၊ ရပ္ကြက္ထဲက လူေတြကို ငါးေျခာက္ ေၾကာ္ဘို႔ ေျပာထားတယ္။ ဒီ့ေလာက္ အမ်ားႀကီး ဘယ့္ႏွယ္ တစ္ေယာက္ ႏွစ္ေယာက္ထဲနဲ႔ ၿပီးႏိုင္ပါ့မလဲ၊ ငါ့ေပးလိုက္” ဆိုၿပီး ငါးေျခာက္ အခ်ိန္ ၆၀ ကို သူ႔ဟာသူ တကၠစီငွားၿပီး သယ္သြားတယ္။ ဘုန္းႀကီးေက်ာင္းမွာ ေႁခြၾကတာေပါ့။ ဘုန္းႀကီးက လူစုေပး။ ငါးေျခာက္ေတြလဲ ေခါင္းေတြေႁခြၿပီးေရာ ဘုန္းႀကီးက လွမ္း ဖံုးဆက္တယ္။ တို႔လည္း ဆိုကၠားငွားၿပီး သြားသယ္ရတာေပါ့။
ၾကက္သြန္ကလည္း အျဖဴ၊ အနီ စုစုေပါင္း အခိ်န္ ၃၀ ေလာက္ ခြါရ လီွးရတာ။ မူမူတို႔ (က်ြန္ေတာ့္ ညီမ အငယ္) ဌာန က ဆရာမ သံုးေယာက္ ကူၿပီး ခြါၾက လီွးၾကေပါ့ဟယ္။ ေၾကာ္တာက ၀င္းေဇာ္ဦး ရယ္၊ ဒို႔ ရပ္ကြက္ က ေပါင္ခ်ိန္ ရယ္၊ ေအာက္ထပ္က အစ္မႀကီး ႏွစ္ေယာက္ရယ္ ေၾကာ္ၾကတယ္။ ေန႔ခင္း ၁ နာရီက စ ေၾကာ္ၾကတာ။ ည နာရီျပန္ တစ္ခ်က္တီးမွ ၿပီးတယ္။ ဒါ ေၾကာ္ရံုသက္သက္ပဲ ရိွေသးတယ္။
ေနာက္ေန႔က်ေတာ့ ေဒၚခင္ေအးမူ သူတို႔ရပ္ကြက္က အမိ်ဳးသမီး ဆယ္ေယာက္ေလာက္ ေခၚလာၿပီး မေန႔က ေၾကာ္ၿပီးသားေတြကို စပ္ေပး၊ ေ၀ဘို႔လို႔ အထုပ္ကေလးေတြ ထုပ္ေပးလုပ္လို႔ အားလံုးၿပီးသြား ေရာ။ ၀ိုင္းၿပီး ေၾကာ္တဲ့သူတို႔၊ ကူညီညာလုပ္ေပးတဲ့ သူတို႕ကို ငါ လဖက္သုတ္ေက်ြး၊ ေကာ္ဖီတိုက္ တယ္။ ညေနစာလဲ ငါပဲ ေက်ြးလိုက္တာေပါ့။ ေနာက္ေန႔ ငါးေျခာက္ေၾကာ္ ကူၿပီး ထုပ္ေပးတဲ့ သူေတြကို ေတာ့ ေကာက္ညွင္းေပါင္း ေကြ်းလိုက္တယ္။
လူေတြဆိုေတာ့ အမိ်ဳးမိ်ဳးေပါ့ဟာ။ တခိ်ဳ႔က်ေတာ့လဲ အရမ္းကို အားတက္သေရာ ရိွတယ္။ ငါ မတတ္ႏိုင္လို႔ မလွဴႏိုင္ေပမဲ့ လူအားစိုက္ၿပီး အကုန္လုပ္ေပးမယ္ ဆိုတာမိ်ဳး။ လွဴႏိုင္တဲ့ သူေတြက်ျပန္ ေတာ့ ေငြအားေရာ၊ ပစၥည္းအားေရာ၊ လူအားေရာ တကယ့္ကို အင္တိုက္ အားတိုက္ လုပ္ၾကတာ။ နင့္ဟယ္၊ မဂၤလာေစ်းက လူေတြဆိုတာ တကယ့္ကို အားတက္သေရာပဲ။ ပစၥည္းေတြလဲ အမ်ားႀကီး လွဴသလို လူကိုယ္တိုင္လဲ ဟို ဘိုကေလးတို႔ လပြတၱာတို႔ အေရာက္ ငါတို႔နဲ႔ လိုက္ လုပ္ေပးၾကတယ္။ သူတို႔အင္အားနဲ႔ေၾကာင့္ ဒါေလာက္ ေခ်ာေခ်ာ ေမာေမာ ၿပီးတာ။ ငါတို႔ခ်ည္းပဲဆို ဘယ္လြယ္လိမ့္ မတံုး။
ေဟာ - တခ်ိဳ႔က်ျပန္ေတာ့ ငါတို႔ အနီးအနားကလူေတြ ေျပာပါတယ္။ ငါးေျခာက္ေခါင္းကေလး ကူေႁခြေပးပါ ဆိုတာေတာင္ မလုပ္ေပးခ်င္ ၾကဘူး။ အဲဒီလူေတြဟာ အိမ္မွာလဲ ဘာမွ အလုပ္ရိွတာ မဟုတ္ဘူး။ သူမ်ားတကာ လဖက္ရည္ဆိုင္ လွည့္ထိုင္ၿပီး တစ္ေနကုန္ တစ္ေနခန္း ခ်ဲတြက္၊ ႏွစ္လံုး သံုးလံုးအေၾကာင္း ေျပာ နဲ႔ပဲ အခ်ိန္ေတြ ကုန္ေနၾကတာ။ ေအးေပါ့ေလ၊ ကိုယ္ ကိုယ္တိုင္ ေဘးမေတြ႔ေသးေတာ့ ဒီလိုပဲေပါ့။ ကိုယ့္ေခါင္း ေႁမြေပါက္မွ အမယ္ေလး ဘေလး၊ အရပ္ကူပါ၊ လူ၀ိုင္းပါ ျဖစ္ၾကေတာ့မွာကိုး။ မုန္တိုင္းေဘးအတြက္ တိုက္တစ္တိုက္လံုးမွ ဆယ္ေကာင္ေလာက္ အလကား ေပးတဲ့ ငါး က်ေတာ့ မဲႏိႈက္ယူရတဲ့ ဟာေတာင္ ေသေရးရွင္ေရးတမွ် အေျပးအလႊား သြားၿပီး ယူၾကတယ္။ စားအံုးဆီ ၂၀ သား ၅၀၀ နဲ႔ ေရာင္းေပးတာကို တစ္မနက္ခင္းလံုး တန္းစီၿပီး သြား ၀ယ္ၾကတယ္။ မိုးေတြြရြာ၊ ေလေတြတိုက္လို႔မွ မၿပီးေသးဘူး။ သူမ်ားအိမ္ေတြက လြင့္ပ်ံက်လာတဲ့ သြပ္ ေတြကို လိုက္ေကာက္ေနတဲ့ သူေတြကလည္း တပံုႀကီး။ အဲဒီလို သြပ္ အေကာက္ေကာင္းလို႔ ေသတဲ့ သူေတြေတာင္ ရိွပါတယ္။ သူ႔အရပ္နဲ႔ သူ႔ဇာတ္နဲ႔၊ ဒီအစိုးရနဲ႔ ဒီလူေတြနဲ႔ေတာ့ တန္မွတန္။ ဒီမိုး ဒီေလ၊ ဒီလူေတြနဲ႔၊ ဒီမင္း ဒီစိုး၊ ဒီသူခိုးနဲ႔ ဆိုတာ တကယ့္ကို ကြက္တိပဲ။ ဒါေတြ ထားလိုက္ပါေတာ့ေလ။
ငါးေျခာက္ေတြ ေၾကာ္ၿပီး ထုပ္ၿပီးေတာ့ ဆိုဒ္ထဲက ေကာင္ေလးတစ္ေယာက္ ေခၚၿပီး ၀င္းေဇာ္ဦး သူ႔ဟာ သူ အိမ္အေရာက္ လာပို႔ေပးတယ္။ ငါ့မလဲ အိမ္မွာက အ၀တ္ေဟာင္းထုပ္ေတြနဲ႔ ျပည့္ေနလို႔ ထားစရာ မရိွေတာ့ဘူး။ မိ်ဳးမိ်ဳးကို ဖံုးဆက္ၿပီး လာယူခိုင္းေတာ့ သူလာသယ္သြားတယ္။
(မလြင္လြင္မိုးက က်ြန္မတို႔အိမ္ေရွ႔က အစ္ကို႔ အိမ္မွာ ဘယ္သူမွ မေနေတာ့ အားေနတယ္။ ပစၥည္းေတြကို အဲဒီမွာ သြားထားလိုက္ေတာ့ ေတာ္ေတာ္ အဆင္ေျပသြားတယ္ ဟု ျပန္ေျပာျပ ပါသည္။ ႏို႔မဟုတ္လွ်င္ သည္ေလာက္မ်ားေသာ အလွဴပစၥည္းမ်ားကို ဘယ္မွာ သြားထားမည္နည္း။ မမိ်ဳးမိ်ဳး မွာ မဂၤလာေစ်းတြင္ ေစ်းထြက္ေနေသာ မလြင္လြင္မိုး၏ ညီမ ျဖစ္ပါ၏။ က်ြန္ေတာ္တို႔ အလွဴကိစၥမွာ မမိ်ဳးမိ်ဳး အင္တိုက္ အားတိုက္ ကူညီမႈေၾကာင့္သာ ဤမွ် ေခ်ာေခ်ာေမာေမာ ႏွင့္ ၿပီးေျမာက္ရျခင္း ျဖစ္ပါ၏။ က်ြန္ေတာ္တို႔ႏွင့္ မဂၤလာေစ်းသူေစ်းသားမ်ား ပူးေပါင္းလိုက္ေသာအခါ အလွဴအင္အား အေတာ့္ကို ေတာင့္တင္းသြားပါသည္။ သို႔အတြက္ က်ြန္ေတာ့္မွာ မမ်ိဳးမိ်ဳးေရာ၊ မလြင္လြင္မိုးကိုပါ အလြန္ ေက်းဇူးတင္မိပါ၏။ က်ြန္ေတာ္တို႔ခ်ည္း လုပ္ရလွ်င္ ေတာ္ေတာ့ကိုမလြယ္ပါ။ စေနဓမၼမိတ္ေဆြ မ်ား အဖဲြ႔အေနႏွင့္ မမိ်ဳးမိ်ဳး ႏွင့္ မဂၤလာေစ်းသူေစ်းသား အေပါင္းတို႔ကုိ ေက်းဇူး အထူးတင္ရိွပါ ေၾကာင္း ဤေနရာမွ မွတ္တမ္းတင္အပ္ပါသည္။)
ေနာက္ “ထန္းတစ္ပင္ ဘုန္းႀကီးက မႏၱေလးက ဘုန္းႀကီးမွာ အ၀တ္ေဟာင္းေတြ စုေဆာင္းၿပီး သယ္လာတာ ကြန္တိန္နာနဲ႔ ေလးလံုး ရိွတယ္။ အဲဒါ လိုခ်င္သေလာက္ လာယူၿပီး လွဴေပးပါ လို႔ ေျပာတယ္ တဲ့” လို႔ ေဒၚခင္ေအးမူ လာေျပာတယ္။ မမိ်ဳးတို႔ကားေရာက္လာေတာ့ အဲဒီအေၾကာင္း ငါေျပာျပလို႔ သူက သံုးထုပ္ေလာက္ေတာ့ ဆန္႔ေသးတယ္ဆိုတာနဲ႔ ေဒၚခင္ေအးမူပါ လိုက္လာၿပီး သုစိတၱာရံုေက်ာင္းမွာ ညဘက္ ၉ နာရီေလာက္ သြားသယ္ၾကတယ္။ အ၀တ္ေတြတင္ မကဘူး။ ဆန္ ေတြေရာ၊ သၾကားေတြပါ ပါတယ္။ ဆန္ေတြနဲ႔ သၾကားေတြေတာ့ မသယ္ႏုိင္ေတာ့ဘူး။ ကားက မဆန္႔ ေတာ့ဘူး။ ေနာက္ၿပီး တို႔လဲ ဖ်ာပံုမွာ ဆန္အိတ္ ၁၀၀ ၀ယ္ထားတာ ရိွေသးတယ္။

လမ္းျပတစ္ေယာက္ ပါတယ္။ ၁၂ နာရီေက်ာ္ေက်ာ္မွာ က်ံဳတဲရြာကို ေရာက္တယ္။ ေရာက္ေတာ့ ပစၥည္းေတြခ်။ သူတို႔က အိမ္ေထာင္စု စာရင္းအလိုက္ ေ၀မွာ လို႔ ေျပာတယ္။ စာရင္းရေတာ့ ဆန္ေတြ ကို ထုတ္တဲ့သူကထုတ္၊ ပဲေတြကို ထုတ္တဲ့သူက ထုတ္၊ အ၀တ္ေတြ ထုတ္တဲ့သူက ထုတ္ ေပါ့။ အားလံုးထုတ္ပိုး ၿပီးသြားေတာ့ ကဒ္ျပားေတြနဲ႔ ေ၀တယ္။ မေ၀ေလာက္တဲ့ ပစၥည္းေတြက်ေတာ့ မဲႏိႈက္ ရတာေပါ့။ မဲမွာ ဗလာ က်တဲ့သူကို က်ေတာ့ ပစၥည္းတစ္မိ်ဳး ေပးတယ္။

ေနာက္ကားေရာက္လာေတာ့ ရန္ကုန္ကို ျပန္ခဲ့ၾကတယ္။ အိမ္ကို နာရီျပန္ တစ္ခ်က္တီးေက်ာ္မွ ေရာက္တယ္။ ေနာက္အပတ္ေတာ့ ဘိုကေလးကို သြားမယ္ ဆိုလားပဲ။
အဲဒီမွာ ေတြ႔ခဲ့၊ ႀကံဳခဲ့ရတဲ့ လူေတြအေၾကာင္း နည္းနည္းေတာ့ ေျပာခ်င္ေသးတယ္။ မုန္တိုင္း ဒုကၡသည္ ေတြဆီ လွဴရေအာင္ သြားၾကမယ္ ဆိုေတာ့ ငါ ကိုယ္နဲ႔နီးစပ္တဲ့ အနီးပတ္၀န္းက်င္မွာ အ၀တ္ေဟာင္း ကေလးေတြ လိုက္ၿပီး အလွဴခံတာေပါ့။ အက်ႌ၊ လံုခ်ည္ စသျဖင့္ေပါ့။ မ်ားေသာအားျဖင့္ေတာ့ ကိုယ္ ၀တ္တဲ့အထဲကေန ေကာင္းေကာင္းမြန္မြန္ ေလးေတြ ေရြးၿပီး သပ္သပ္ယပ္ယပ္ သန္႔သန္႔ရွင္းရွင္း ေမႊးေမႊး ႀကိဳင္ႀကိဳင္ လုပ္ေပးၾကပါရဲ့။ တခိ်ဳ႔က်ေတာ့လဲ ဟယ္၊ မျဖစ္ႏိုင္ဘူး၊ နံေစာ္ေနလြန္းလို႔ အမိႈက္ပံု ထဲ လႊင့္ပစ္လိုက္ရတာ ေတြေတာင္ ရိွတယ္။
အ၀တ္ေဟာင္းေတြ ရလာၿပီ ဆိုကတဲက ငါတို႔က မိန္းမ၀တ္၊ ေယာက္်ား၀တ္၊ ကေလး၀တ္ စသျဖင့္ သပ္သပ္စီ ခဲြထုတ္၊ အထုတ္ေတြ ေပၚမွာ စာေရးထားလိုက္တာ။ ေ၀ရလြယ္ေအာင္လို႔။ ဥပမာ - ေယာက္်ား၀တ္ အကႌ် နဲ႔ ပုဆိုး အတဲြ ဘယ္ႏွစံု စသျဖင့္ ေပါ့။ အထုပ္တိုင္းမွာ စာနဲ႔ေရးမွတ္ထားေတာ့ ဒီအိတ္ထဲမွာ ဘာပါတယ္ အလြယ္တကူ သိႏိုင္သလို ေယာက္်ား၀တ္က ဘယ္ႏွစံု၊ မိန္းမ၀တ္က ဘယ္ႏွစံု စသျဖင့္ လြယ္လြယ္ကူကူ သိႏိုင္တာေပါ့။ အသစ္ေတြလဲ ပါတယ္။ တအားစုတ္တဲ့ ဟာေတြ ေတာ့ ထည့္မေပးၾကပါဘူး။ တစ္ဦးစ ႏွစ္ဦးစေတာ့လည္း ပါတာေပါ့ေလ။ အိမ္မွာ ဘီရိုေတြ ေသတၱာေတြ ရွင္းၿပီးေရာ ဆိုၿပီး ထည့္ေပးလိုက္ၾကတာ။ ဘယ္လိုမွ မျဖစ္ႏုိင္ေတာ့ဘူး။ ဂ်ီး လက္ေလးသစ္နဲ႔ ေၾကာင္ေသးေစာ္ကလဲ နံေနေသးတယ္။ သူတို႔မို႔လို႔ပဲ ေပးရက္ေသးတယ္ ဟယ္။ ေစတနာ ႏံု႔နဲ႔ၾကပံုေတြ ေျပာပါတယ္။ တခ်ိဳ႔က်ေတာ့လည္း ငါးေျခာက္ကို ေခါင္းေႁခြရံုတင္ မဟုတ္ဘူး။ ခါးမွာစိုးလို႔ ဆိုၿပီး ဗိုက္က ေခ်းေနရာေတြပါ ေႁခြေပးၾကတယ္။ လူအမိ်ဳးမိ်ဳး ေပါ့ဟယ္။
ငါေမ့က်န္လို႔ မေရးလိုက္ရတာေတြ အမ်ားႀကီး ရိွေသးတယ္။ အခုေရးေပးလိုက္တာက အဲဒီ့ ေမ့က်န္ခဲ့ လို႔ မေရးလိုက္ရတာေတြရဲ့ ငါးပံု တစ္ပံုေလာက္ပဲ ရိွမယ္ ထင္ပါရဲ့။ အခုတစ္ေခါက္ သြားလွဴခဲ့တဲ့ ရြာေတြက ၁။ က်ံဳကန္ (ေတာင္) ၂။ က်ံဳကန္ (ေျမာက္) ၃။ က်ံဳကန္ (ေသာင္) ၄။ ကမာဆပ္ ဆိုတဲ့ ေလးရြာပဲ။

လပြတၱာသို႔ သြားေရာက္လွဴဒါန္းျခင္း
ေျမာင္းျမမွာက ေလသိပ္မတိုက္လို႔ ဘာမွမပ်က္စီးဘူး။ လပြတၱာနဲ႔ ရြာေတြက တက္လာတဲ့ လူေတြပဲ ရိွတယ္။ သူတိ႔ု ၿမိဳ႔ခံေတြက အဲဒီသူေတြကို ေရာက္ေရာက္ခ်င္း ေစာင့္ေရွာက္ထား ရတာေပါ့။ ဆန္ျပဳတ္၊ ထမင္း စတာေတြ ေက်ြးရတာေပါ့။
နင္က ဖံုးဆက္ၿပီး ေနာက္ထပ္ အလွဴေငြ သိန္း ၇၀ ထပ္ရတယ္ ဆိုတာနဲ႔ မမိ်ဳးကို ဖံုးဆက္ၿပီး ပုဆိုး၊ ပန္းကန္၊ တီရွပ္၊ စတာေတြ ၀ယ္မယ္လို႔ လွမ္း အေၾကာင္းၾကား လိုက္တယ္။ ေျမာင္းျမကို ေပါင္မံု႔ အလံုး တစ္ေသာင္း လည္း မွာခိုင္းလိုက္တယ္။ ေပါင္မံု႔ ေတြေတာ့ ဒီက သယ္မသြားေတ့ာဘူး။ ပုဆိုး ပန္းကန္ စတာေတြေတာ့ တစ္ရက္ ငါ မမိ်ဳး နဲ႔ အတူ သြားၿပီး ၀ယ္ၾကတယ္။

ပစၥည္းတင္တဲ့ ဒိုင္နာ ၂ စီးက မနက္ ၁၀ နာရီေလာက္ ကတည္းက သြားႏွင့္ၾကၿပီ တဲ့။ ငါတို႔ လူစီးတဲ့ကားက ေမလ ၁၈ ရက္ေန႔ ညေန ၃ နာရီမွာ စထြက္တယ္။ ငါရယ္၊ ျမတ္ထားရယ္၊ သမီးတို႔ က်ဴရွင္ ဆရာမရယ္၊ ျမတ္ထား သူငယ္ခ်င္းရယ္၊ ေပါင္း ၄ ေယာက္။ မမိ်ဳးတို႔ဆီ သြားစီးၾကတယ္။ ေယက္်ားေတြကေတာ့ တခိ်ဳ႔ ဒိုင္နာနဲ႔ လိုက္တဲ့ သူက လိုက္၊ ဒို႔ စီးတဲ့ကားေပၚမွာ မတ္တပ္ရပ္ လိုက္တဲ့သူေတြက လိုက္ ေပါ့။ စုစုေပါင္း လူ ၄၀ ေက်ာ္တယ္။ မဂၤလာေစ်းက လူေတြလည္း အရမ္း လွဴၾကတာပဲ ေဟ့။ မမိ်ဳးက ေျပာတယ္။ လူတစ္ေယာက္ က ပုဆိုး အထည္ ၃၀၀ လာလွဴတာ ကားမဆန္႔ေတာ့လို႔ ထားခဲ့ရတယ္ တဲ့။ ေနာက္တစ္ေခါက္မွ သယ္ရမွာေပါ့။
ေညာင္တုန္းမွာ ညေနစာ စားၾကတယ္။ အဲဒီမွာ ဟိုက ျပန္လာတဲ့ ေက်ာ္သူတို႔ အဖဲြ႔နဲ႔ ေတြ႔တယ္။ သူတို႔က ဟိုအရင္ကတည္းက သြားလွဴေနၾကတာ။ အဲဒါနဲ႔ ေျမာင္းျမကို ေရာက္ေတာ့ ည ၉ နာရီ ခဲြေနၿပီ။ ဟို တစ္ေခါက္သြားတံုးက ရန္ကုန္ - ေျမာင္းျမ လမ္းက ၾကမ္းလို႔ အျပန္က် ပုသိမ္ဘက္ကေန လွည့္ျပန္တာ။ အဲဒီလမ္းက ေ၀းေပမဲ့ လမ္းေကာင္းတယ္။ ၂ နာရီေတာ့ ပိုေမာင္းရတယ္။ ခုလဲ အဲဒီလမ္းကေနပဲ သြားၾကတာ။

ေနာက္ၿပီး ၂ နာရီေက်ာ္ေလာက္ တစ္ေခါက္ ျပန္ထြက္ၾက ျပန္တယ္။ ဒီတစ္ေခါက္ေတာ့ ၂ ေနရာပဲ ေ၀ႏိုင္ေတာ့တယ္။ မိုးေတြက တအားရြာေနေတာ့ တစ္ေယာက္ခ်င္း ေ၀ဘို႔ မျဖစ္ႏိုင္ေတာ့ဘူး။ အထုပ္လိုက္ပဲ ဘုန္းႀကီးေက်ာင္းမွာ အပ္ခဲ့ရေတာ့တယ္။

အဲဒီက ၿမိဳ႔ခံေတြ လည္း ေတာ္ေတာ့္ကို လုပ္ၾကရတယ္။ မုန္တိုင္းလဲ တိုက္ၿပီးေရာ လပြတၱာၿမိဳ႔နယ္ထဲက ရြာေပါင္း ၂၃၀ က လူေတြ၊ အကုန္ လပြတၱာကို တက္လာၾကတာ။ အဲဒီလူေတြ တက္လာေတာ့ ေတာ္ၾကာ လုတာ ယက္တာေတြ ျဖစ္မွာစိုးလို႔ သူတို႔ကို ထမင္းခ်က္တန္ ခ်က္ေက်ြး၊ ဆန္ျပဳတ္တိုက္တန္ တိုက္ စသျဖင့္ လုပ္ၾကရတယ္။ အဲဒီက လူေတြလဲ ခုထိ စီးပြားေရးျပန္လုပ္ဖို႔ ဘယ္က စရမွန္းကို မသိေသးဘူး ျဖစ္ေန တယ္တဲ့။ ေစ်းသည္ေတြလည္း တစ္လေလာက္ ၾကာရင္ေတာင္ ျပန္ေရာင္းရပါ့မလား လို႔ ၿငီးေနၾကတယ္။
